Tom Newton - President

Joining Renaissance Leadership in 1993, Tom Newton brought over 25 years experience in two Fortune 100 companies. Tom holds a marketing degree from the University of Notre Dame. He was with Avon Products for 17 years where his expanding responsibilities included Marketing, Incentives, Sales Management, Management Training and Development and Human Resources. In his seven years with Pfizer he was: Director, Human Resources, Pharmaceutical Production, responsible for 1,250 employees, followed by Vice President, Human Resources, Specialty Chemicals Group, supporting 1,875 employees in 23 countries.

Tom has been recognized for his outstanding work in executive consultation and process facilitation. In 2003, Tom purchased Renaissance Leadership from owner/founder John O'brien.

John O'Brien founded Renaissance Leadership in 1978 as one of the first firms dedicated to executive and leadership development based largely upon experiential learning. He combined his training as a behavioral scientist at Princeton and John Hopkins with his deep experience as a teacher and a coach to design a unique Renaissance methodology.

During the firm's first 30 years of service, O'Brien and his team facilitated peak performance for clients ranging from AT&T and Colgate Palmolive to Pfizer and Smith Barney.

In 2003, John was called to become the President of the Milton Hershey School; an orphanage which had saved his life. He repaid that gift by restoring the school's mission and helping to grow it to the $12 billion "national treasure" that it is today. O'Brien transferred the firm to his partner, Tom Newton, who has ably guided it ever since.

O'Brien's recent book "Semisweet" (Roman and Littlefield, Publisher) captures his dramatic, full-circle Hershey journey and features Renaissance wisdom.
